Vivanews – Ministry of Environment targets by the end of this year all Indonesian products are free from environmentally damaging Freon R22. Currently, the government began to promote the use of freon.

Minister of Environment, Balthasar Kambuaya, Tuesday, June 18, 2013, declared last month that the government has met with industry about plans for the ban.

As is known, Freon R-22 is widely used by household appliances such as refrigerators and air conditioning (AC). Freon R-22 contain CFCs that can damage the environment such as ozone.

Now, the use of R-22 can already be replaced by more environmentally friendly R134a.

The ban, currently underway by the countries in the world as the implementation of the Montreal Protocol agreed in 1987. “Indonesia we expect this year’s target, later we will see the end of the year,” said Balthasar. (asp)
